Leicester City has announced the signing of England international defender Jonny Evans from Manchester United on a four-year contract, with an option to extend by one more year. The 29-year-old centre-back is expected to make his debut in the Premier League against Crystal Palace on Sunday, as Leicester look to strengthen their defence after losing key players such as Danny Drinkwater and Wes Morgan to injury. Evans made 154 appearances for United across all competitions, scoring seven goals and helping the club win three Premier League titles and two FA Cups during his time at Old Trafford. He also played for Wales at international level, making 37 appearances and scoring one goal. Evans said: "I am really excited about joining Leicester City and I'm looking forward to getting started. The squad here is fantastic and I know it will be a good place to play football." Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers added: "Jonny brings a lot of experience and quality to our team. He's a very strong player who can read the game well and he'll bring us stability at the back." Evans' arrival comes just days after Leicester lost key defenders Wes Morgan and Danny Drinkwater to injuries, leaving them short in the heart of their defence.
